Paracel carbon credit project advances with international registration

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Paracel ARR Forest Carbon Project has been registered with the Verra Registry and has secured approval for its first 191,809 carbon credits under the international Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) standards.

The project, identified by ID 3196, uses the VM0047 methodology, covering Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation, and is located in northeastern Paraguay. The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) approved the methodology in accordance with the Core Carbon Principles (CCP).

According to Paracel, registering and approving the initial credits marks a significant step forward for its forest management model, which combines productive plantations with the conservation and restoration of native ecosystems, alongside initiatives aimed at social development.

This initial milestone involved validating and verifying Project Activity Instance 1 (PAI-1), comprising the Trementina and San Liberato ranches, with an eligible area of 23,775 hectares.

The first instance includes eucalyptus plantations intended for kraft pulp production and the restoration of degraded Cerrado savannas. The project aims to generate Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) while promoting biodiversity conservation and the development of communities linked to the project area.

The company said this result strengthens its sustainability strategy and landscape-based development approach by integrating forestry productivity, environmental conservation, and social investments.

The project aims to generate measurable, verifiable carbon dioxide (CO₂) removals and contribute to long-term environmental and economic value.
