Asunción, Agencia IP.- Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano and his French counterpart, Jean-Noël Barrot, reaffirmed during a meeting on Thursday their countries’ joint commitment to combating drug trafficking, “an issue that affects countries and requires coordinated efforts for prevention and enforcement.”
In a joint statement issued following the meeting, the foreign ministers reaffirmed that international cooperation is necessary to address drug trafficking, dismantle criminal networks, and tackle the health and social consequences of drug use.
The statement also notes that combating drug trafficking is an absolute priority for Paraguay, which maintains a zero-tolerance approach through a comprehensive strategy that combines the strengthening of security forces with social prevention programs.
“Land and air operations in critical border areas have been stepped up, making it possible to dismantle criminal networks and close major production and storage sites,” the statement says.
In the statement, Paraguay and France reiterate their willingness to deepen their cooperation and their commitment to maintaining close consultations on these issues.
