Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Paraguayan Directorate of Migration reported that the return to their countries of origin of the first group of migrants who had entered the country under the cooperation mechanism with the United States government has begun.
According to the institution, the operation is being carried out in an orderly, safe, and coordinated manner, in conjunction with international organizations, in compliance with the commitments assumed by the Paraguayan State.
It should be noted that a total of 16 migrants entered the national territory on April 23 in transit, after individual verification of the legal requirements for their admission, including the absence of criminal records in their countries of origin and other places of residence.
The Directorate of Migration indicated that the stay of these individuals in Paraguay is temporary and aims to facilitate their safe return to their respective countries.
The process is being carried out with a humanitarian approach, prioritizing comprehensive assistance, dignified treatment, and respect for migrants’ rights. The institution also announced that the remaining citizens will be relocated over the next few days, as scheduled.
