Both parties reaffirm their commitment to international development and the peaceful use of nuclear energy, recognizing the role it can play in meeting the energy needs of both countries.
The memorandum was signed by Paraguay’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a ceremony held at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Paraguay’s Vice President Pedro Alliana also attended the event.
As part of the agreement signing, Alliana and Rubio conducted a comprehensive review of the areas that make up the broad shared agenda between the two nations, strongly reaffirming the strength of the strategic partnership that has historically united Paraguay and the United States.
«The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Cooperation in Civil Nuclear Affairs with Paraguay is just another step in the continued growth of the relationship between our two countries. The United States and Paraguay have always had strong ties, and now those ties are even stronger,» the U.S. Secretary of State wrote on his social media accounts.
