Asunción, Agencia IP.- As part of the commemoration of 120 years of diplomatic relations between Paraguay and Norway, the Deputy Head of Mission of the Norwegian Embassy in Argentina, Sveinung Brandsøy, paid an official visit to Asunción, where he held a series of meetings with national authorities and strategic stakeholders.
During his visit, key issues on the bilateral agenda were addressed, including progress on the Free Trade Agreement between EFTA and Mercosur, which is currently in the ratification process and is a priority for Norway. This agreement seeks to strengthen trade ties and expand economic opportunities between the two blocs.
The program also included meetings with the United Nations Resident Coordinator, Hanny Cueva Beteta, as well as a visit to the Inter-American Development Bank offices to exchange perspectives on international cooperation and sustainable development.
In the business sector, the delegation met with Osvaldo Almeida Junior, the representative of Elkem ASA in Paraguay, and toured the company’s industrial plant in the city of Limpio, underscoring their interest in strengthening foreign investment in the country.
The presence of the Norwegian delegation reaffirms the mutual interest in deepening bilateral cooperation and positioning Paraguay as a strategic partner in the region, in trade, investment, and sustainable development.
