Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) awarded 76 scholarships to selected Paraguayan young people who will pursue undergraduate studies, postgraduate programs, and Mandarin language courses. The award ceremony was presided over by Ambassador Iván Yueh-Jung Lee.
On behalf of his government, Taiwan’s diplomatic representative in Paraguay, Iván Yueh-Jung Lee, congratulated the 76 young people selected this year as scholarship recipients. He stated that the ceremony not only involved the delivery of certificates but also recognized their dedication and celebrated the beginning of a new stage in their lives.
He reported that this year Taiwan granted 51 MOFA-Taiwan scholarships, 13 scholarships from the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF), 10 Huayu scholarships for Mandarin language studies, and 2 scholarships for a Master’s Degree in Police Sciences, totaling 76 scholarships.
The Ambassador expressed that each scholarship recipient will follow a different path, but all will have the opportunity to experience Taiwan, receive high-quality education, and live an experience that will transform their lives.
Educational cooperation, one of the pillars of friendship between Paraguay and Taiwan
The Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) stated that educational cooperation has always been one of the strongest pillars of friendship between Taiwan and Paraguay and highlighted that, from 1991 to this year, the Taiwanese government has awarded 894 scholarships to Paraguayan young people.
He also emphasized that next year both countries will celebrate the 69th anniversary of diplomatic relations. «Throughout almost seven decades, we have built a friendship based on trust, respect, and cooperation, and you will be the new generation playing a leading role in this history,» he said.
Meanwhile, Patricia Frutos, representing Paraguay’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that this initiative is one of the most valuable areas of cooperation between Paraguay and the Republic of China (Taiwan), built on mutual trust, reciprocal respect, and a shared vision of development.
She noted that over the decades, both countries have demonstrated a relationship that grows stronger when it creates concrete opportunities for their citizens, and that scholarships are one of the best examples of this commitment.
«This form of cooperation, whose impact extends across generations, invests in people. Each of you represents this commitment, with the opportunity to build skills, develop talents, and prepare professionals who, with new knowledge and experiences, will contribute to Paraguay’s development,» she said.
Likewise, Adolfo Vallejos, representing the Ministry of Education and Sciences, stated that the opportunity for academic training through undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships at prestigious Taiwanese universities is a gift for which Paraguay is grateful. He added that academic, scientific, technological, cultural, and human exchanges strengthen the friendship between both peoples.
