Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Víctor Verdún, participated in the conference “Italy, Europe and Latin America: The Shift Towards a New Strategic Centrality. Growth Prospects and Mercosur,” organized by the Italo-Latin American International Organization (IILA) and the Italian Government, in the city of Prato, Italy.
During the event, he presented Paraguay’s prospects to representatives of the Italian business sector regarding the upcoming provisional entry into force of the Mercosur-European Union Agreement, as well as the priorities of Paraguay’s Pro Tempore Presidency of the regional bloc.
He also addressed the case of Paraguayan companies in the leather sector that are allegedly being subjected to extortion practices and attacks by non-governmental organizations. He reaffirmed that national production is distinguished by its traceability and environmental responsibility.
Furthermore, Vice Minister Verdún participated in the 180th Extraordinary Session of the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), where he presented Paraguay’s position regarding the implications of disruptions in supply chains in the Gulf region for food security and agriculture.
